If we look back and read their writings in the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries, we find that they said they were privileged. Some feminists argue that they could not have bank accounts, but never explain that this was because legally women could not be responsible forining the family. Women could not accumulate debts in that way. What would it mean for a woman to have property if she could not make those lands produce something or defend them from those who wanted to take them away?
