Plans to earn money should be easy. We cannot divert our attention to activities to make money. We need some money to carry out our activities, and if we get that money through a contribution, that’s the best. Otherwise, we can sell our literature and our books, etc. But if we direct our attention like others, then it turns into karma. And karma is very dangerous for people who want to return to God. Therefore, in the Bhagavad-gita karma yoga is recommended. In general, we can strive to earn money if that doesn’t hinder our devotional service. Otherwise, we’ll prefer to die of hunger and sing Hare Krishna. That should be the axis of all our activities.
