I personally heard Srila Prabhupada talk to say the same thing in 1976, and then I read it in 2012 in Srutakirti Prabhu’s book Prabhupada: “One of my disciples is just waiting: when will the old man die so that I can become a guru?” Srutakirti Dasa: “The environment was very shady and intense. I have already described how Srila Prabhupada told me how he asked his disciples not to touch their feet, saying, ‘By touching my feet I have to suffer. He may not be trying to any goal by touching my feet, even so, the spiritual master has to suffer by accepting his sinful reactions.’ Now Srila Prabhupada said things that I could not understand. It was very disturbing. The words went through my heart. He mentioned it on two different occasions during his
