Culture vs. Technology When I spoke at the University of Berkeley in 1966, an Indian student rose up and said, “Swamiji, what will this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement do?” “We need technology now.” I replied, “Yes. You are looking for technology. Then you are beggars. I am not a beggar. I have come here to give something. That’s the difference. I’ve come here to offer culture, and you’re looking to imitate Western civilization through technology. That’s the difference. You’ll stay as beggars, I’ll be a donor. That’s the difference.”
