ISKCON's First Book Table: "A tough struggle at the beginning." In the fall of 1966, I made the first mobile book table, borrowing a basket from the NYC confectionery district. I made the sides and the back of countercladed wood and hung news articles and other literary ads. On the table there were BTG's, Trials, etc., which I distributed in Washington Square Park between weeks. Prabhupada: At the beginning there were three hundred, (BTG) and Gargamuni, he took someone's basket. Tamala Krsna: What did he? Prabhupada: He was on the street. And he put these magazines in the hand basket, selling them near the cinema and other competing places. That's the same beginning. So it was a tough struggle at the beginning. >>> Ref. V
