"There is danger for a preacher when he receives large amounts of money, because as soon as he spends even a single penny of the collection for his own personal gratification, he becomes a fallen victim. The preachers of the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement must be extremely careful not to waste the immense amounts of money necessary to spread this movement. Let us not make this money the cause of our anguish; it must be used for Kṛṣṇa, and that will cause our eternal happiness. Money is Lakṣmī, or the goddess of fortune, the companion of Nārāṇa. Lakṣmījī must always remain with Nārāṇa, and then there will be no fear of degradation." (Prabhupada purport SB13.32)
