Shiva is not primarily a donor of worldly opulence; it is the god of renunciants, lives among ashes and Bhagavatam himself describes him as the best of the Vaishnavas. According to Gaudiya Vaishnava philosophy, Shiva is an expansion of Krishna for specific cosmic functions, compared to milk and yogurt itself: source, different functions, never opposed or competitors.
