This kīrtanīyā reflects how the ego can divert devotion to aesthetic self-affirmation. He speaks of fashion, art and concerts, not of service. His focus on appearance and self-expression shows that inspiration ceased to be bhakti to become “my style” and “my music”. The concert he describes as “dream made reality” demonstrates ahaṅkāra: the illusion of being the protagonist. In the authentic saṅkīrtana, it is sung for Kṛṣṇa, not for an audience or for spiritual fame. When singing goes “from the heart to the public” without passing through Kṛṣṇa, it becomes spectacle. The remedy is simple: singing back as a service, guided by Srila Prabhupada’s instructions, without looking for personal brilliance.
